The Great Lakes Chamber Orchestra is pleased to announce the winners of the of 2014 Robert O. Davis Emerging Artist Competition. Marion Watson, pianist, was the winner, and Coral Brantley, pianist, the runner-up. Both Marion and Coral are from Petoskey, and are students of Michelle Mitchum. In addition to receiving cash awards, each winner are given a performance opportunity with the orchestra or on a Sunday Series recital. Congratulations to both of these emerging artists!

This was the 6th annual competition sponsored by the Great Lakes Chamber Orchestra. The annual event is open to instrumental and vocal students age 14-19, who reside in the Lower Peninsula, north of the 45th parallel. The competition was held April 27, in the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Charlevoix. Adjudicators were Jamie Platte, Joe Fortin and Robert Pattengale.
